Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday hosted Mozambican Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Delfina Levi at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where both leaders reaffirmed their countries’ long-standing friendship and discussed deepening cooperation across multiple sectors.

President Xi commended the enduring bond between China and Mozambique, which has remained strong for five decades despite global political shifts. He noted that the relationship between the two nations has become a model of mutual trust and support. Xi said China is committed to strengthening strategic collaboration, advancing shared development goals, and opening a new chapter in the China-Mozambique partnership for the next fifty years.

He assured that China fully supports Mozambique’s pursuit of a development path that aligns with its national priorities while safeguarding unity and stability. Xi also expressed readiness to boost collaboration between both governments, political institutions, and legislative bodies, and to share governance experiences that can further Mozambique’s progress.

Highlighting opportunities from the recent Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, Xi called for closer cooperation in energy, mining, and infrastructure development. He also urged the swift completion of the Mozambique-China Cultural Center to promote cultural exchange and strengthen ties between their peoples.

Xi reiterated China’s willingness to work closely with Mozambique to advance global governance reforms, uphold fairness in international relations, and defend the collective interests of developing nations.

Prime Minister Levi, who was in Beijing for the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, praised President Xi’s address at the event, describing it as inspiring and transformative. She reaffirmed Mozambique’s commitment to the one-China principle and described China as a trusted and loyal partner.

Levi said Mozambique seeks to deepen cooperation with China in trade, energy, mining, science, technology, and education to drive economic growth and social development. She commended China’s leadership in promoting global peace, stability, and inclusive development, expressing her country’s readiness to collaborate with China in building a fairer and more balanced world order.

Levi also voiced support for China’s major global initiatives, noting that their shared vision continues to shape a more cooperative and equitable international community.
