Youth Hails Matawalle for Transforming Zamfara with Bold Projects

The Zamfara Youth Mobilisation Forum has praised former Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle for what it described as a remarkable transformation of the state’s landscape through bold and visionary projects that reshaped both its image and administrative structure.

In a statement signed by its Secretary, Abubakar Sani Danfulani, the group said Matawalle’s tenure marked a defining era that gave Zamfara a modern outlook, restored public confidence in governance, and positioned the state as a model of progress and stability.

According to the Forum, when Matawalle assumed office, many government buildings were in decay, with leaking roofs, broken furniture, and long-abandoned sites. Within a few years, he initiated landmark projects that turned the state capital into a reflection of order and functionality.

Among his achievements were the complete renovation and modernisation of the Government House, including the Governor’s Office, Council Chambers, and Conference Hall. The Forum also noted the construction of eighteen new executive chalets and a Presidential Lodge for visiting dignitaries, projects it said restored dignity to the seat of power and enhanced the efficiency of government operations.

The group further highlighted the reconstruction of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, describing it as one of the most impressive legislative complexes in Northern Nigeria. Equipped with modern facilities, the building has strengthened legislative independence and improved the conduct of state affairs.

Matawalle was also commended for rebuilding the Zamfara Liaison Office in Abuja and the Governor’s Lodge in Kaduna, which the Forum said have improved the state’s representation and relationship with federal and regional institutions.

The Forum acknowledged his efforts in revitalising the Zamfara Radio and Television Services Complex, a project that revived local broadcasting, provided employment for young media practitioners, and gave the state’s communication system a new lease of life.

It also pointed to the development of RUGA settlements and the construction of a new Deputy Governor’s Office as part of Matawalle’s broader vision to decentralise governance and strengthen community engagement.

“Matawalle’s vision was not just about buildings but about restoring identity and confidence,” the statement read. “He understood that meaningful governance requires strong institutions and environments that reflect dignity and accountability.”

The Forum, however, raised concerns about the poor maintenance of some of these projects, warning that neglect could undermine their long-term impact. “His legacy stands tall across Zamfara, both in structure and spirit,” it said. “Every renovated building remains a reminder of a leader who believed development must be visible, tangible and sustainable.”

The Zamfara Youth Mobilisation Forum urged citizens, particularly young people, to support Matawalle’s future political aspirations, noting that his record in infrastructure and governance remains unmatched in the history of the state.
