Nollywood actor and producer Yul Edochie has sparked conversation with a message to African men about how they should approach proposals. On his Facebook page, he urged men never to kneel when proposing marriage, calling it a “foolish Oyibo culture.” Instead, he encouraged men to stand tall, confident in their worth, and propose with pride—something he says women deeply admire.
“Dear African man, never kneel to propose marriage to a woman. Stand proudly like a true African man who knows his value. Women adore men who know their worth,” Edochie wrote.
The father of seven also shared insights on how men can attract women, drawing inspiration from the biblical Solomon. He explained that Solomon made himself outstanding, and women came to him. Yul advised men to similarly stand out and let their confidence speak for them.
Previously, he had shared tips for young men on how to woo a lady. Claiming experience as an “OG in the game,” he told men not to wait until they are wealthy before expressing their feelings. According to him, confidence matters more than money.
Edochie also weighed in on the topic of marital conflicts and infidelity, responding to a viral video of a woman whose husband was burned. He warned against taking violent actions, stressing that no reason justifies harming a cheating spouse. He spoke openly against killing, emphasizing that marriage should not be a reason to end someone’s life.
Despite the high divorce rate, the actor described marriage as beautiful and encouraged singles not to lose hope. He pointed out that social media rarely shows the full story behind a broken marriage.
During a previous holiday season, Yul offered advice to women on self-worth, particularly about expensive wigs. He encouraged women who couldn’t afford them to embrace their natural hair, noting that a woman’s value comes from her mind, not her hair.
He has also advised women eager to marry to take initiative, suggesting they buy a ring and propose if their partner is taking too long. “It doesn’t matter who says the words,” he emphasized, supporting the idea that love and commitment are what count.
When American reality star Porsha Williams’s marriage ended just a year after her lavish wedding, Edochie reminded couples planning big ceremonies to do what makes them happy without letting others dictate their choices.
At the start of this year, the actor shared his 2026 motto: “No gree for yourself.” He encouraged people to cast aside fear, take bold steps, make important decisions, and act decisively in life and love.
This series of messages underscores Yul Edochie’s philosophy: confidence, authenticity, and boldness are far more valuable than following trends or letting others define your path.
